September 1984: First borrowed Dad’s Canon AE-1 In between those milestones, nothing of much significance occurred. As a sixteen-year old, I started shooting wedding pictures, which for a high school job sure beats fast food. Eventually, I made my way to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Great school. Palm trees, shorts in the winter, and our football team went undefeated my senior year. After graduating, I began shooting professionally in LA. But there was something about the Midwest that kept calling me back. The character and grit of the people? The harsh beauty of four seasons? Cheap loft space? |
